David Wright Starts In Final Career Game

Mets third baseman David Wright returned to the starting lineup for the first time since 2016 on Saturday, playing four innings against the Marlins and leaving to a standing ovation from the sold-out crowd at Citi Field.

The team captain went 0-for-1 with a walk against the Marlins and was removed after two plate appearances as planned. On defense, he handled a one-hopper to third base with no problem.

Yankees Set Single-Season HR Record

With a two-run shot from Gleyber Torres in the fourth inning at Fenway Park on Saturday, the Yankees set a record for home runs hit in a single season by a team. The blast, off Red Sox lefty Eduardo Rodriguez, was their 265th, surpassing the previous record of 264 hit by the 1997 Mariners.

"Everybody knew that was the number," said Torres, who kept pumping his fist as he rounded first during his home run trot.

Kris Bryant Misses Game Due To Shoulder Fatigue

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was out of the lineup for Sunday's 6-1 victory over the crosstown Chicago White Sox because of fatigue in his left shoulder.

Bryant, 26, was on the disabled list from July 26 to Sept. 1 with left shoulder inflammation. He missed time earlier in the season with the same issue

The Cleveland Indians have become the first team in Major League Baseball history to have four pitchers reach 200 strikeouts in a season.

Mike Clevinger hit that mark with his fourth strikeout against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, joining fellow starters Carlos Carrasco (217), Trevor Bauer (215) and Corey Kluber (205).

The Braves capped a most surprising season by clinching their first National League East crown since 2013, with Mike Foltynewicz taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning Saturday in a 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

A year after going 70-92, manager Brian Snitker and his Baby Braves surged back into the playoffs. A loud crowd at SunTrust Park joined the party when rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. caught a fly ball for the final out, setting off a big celebration on the field.

Mookie Betts Leaves Game Injured, Expected To Play On Tuesday

Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts left Sunday's 4-3 win over the Mets in the sixth inning after appearing to hurt his side while making a throw to home plate.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said postgame that Betts will get treatment Monday and is expected to play Tuesday afternoon when the Red Sox open a three-game series with the Yankees in the Bronx.
